
A Student Council is a group of elected and volunteer students working together with an adult adviser within the framework of a constitution or bylaws to provide a means for student expression and assistance in school affairs and activities, give opportunities for student experience in leadership and encourage student / faculty / community relations.
Through projects and activities, student councils work to:

So , student council of Lilawati Convent School is a group of student leaders who work with an adult advisor to collaborate with others to impact their school community, which impacts their city or town, which impacts our state, which impacts our country, which changes the world
The purpose of student council –
- To develop positive attitudes and to practice good citizenship.
- To promote harmonious relations throughout the entire school.
- To improve student/faculty relationships.
- To improve school morale and general welfare.
- To provide a forum for student expression.
- To plan special events or projects.
Benefits of being involved in student council include: opportunity to improve reading and writing skills, gain experience in public speaking, and learn how to make a positive impact on school and community environment. In addition, student council serves as a chance to meet new friends and work with a wide variety of people.
Objectives of the Student council are to
- Provide a democratic form in which students can address those school related issues, which affect their lives.
- Maintain open communication between students and school staff.
- Train students in the duties and responsibilities of good citizenship.
Students must be very responsible people who are willing to work hard. As student council members you will be called to serve other students by representing their issues. The council does not have the power to change policies, only to voice student opinion.
Student council will be involved in many community minded projects.
- School service: Clean up, school fundraisers.
- Community service: National fundraisers, recycling projects
- Student opinion polls, student council newsletter articles, etc.

Responsibilities of Representative
The duties of the representative are to embody the council’s efforts to be the student voice. Representatives must develop a dialog between students and student council.
Responsibilities:
- Report council activities to student body on a regular basis.
- Present, as fairly as possible, students’ ideas and concerns to the council.
- Attend all student council functions. (Fundraisers, work projects, etc.)
- Make special effort to inform students about upcoming council projects and activities.
- Take informal polls on how students feel about certain subjects.
- Encourage non-members of student council to participate in projects and activities.
- Be active in council meetings.
- Report any problems to advisors before they develop into major issues.
- Respect all faculty and administration.
- Seek the opinions of teachers on various issues.
- Display appropriate Gray Way Behavior.
